China-ASEAN electronic information alliance set up in Guilin

The inaugural meeting of China-ASEAN Alliance of Universities for Electronic Information Innovation of the China-ASEAN Information Harbor was held both online and on-site in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Sept 15.

The establishment of the alliance was initiated by Guilin University of Electronic Technology and has received guidance from the Big Data Development Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Education Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The association was formed by 19 domestic and 31 ASEAN prestigious universities specializing in electronic technology as well as 97 companies managing the sector, and among them, five are from ASEAN countries. 

Xi Yang, director of the Big Data Development Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that the establishment of the alliance will provide a new platform for talent training, scientific innovation and international cooperation in electronic technology between China and ASEAN and is expected to further promote the communication and cooperation between Guangxi and ASEAN countries. 

Xi expressed his hope that the association can carry out more cooperation between China and ASEAN in areas spanning big data, 5G, artificial intelligence and block chain.
