Burmese envoy seeks to further cooperation in Guangxi

A delegation led by Kyaw Soe Thien, the consul general of Myanmar in Nanning, visited the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) Secretariat recently, officials from the CAEXPO Secretariat announced on Aug 6.

The consul general said that more efforts will be devoted to better organizing Myanmar's companies to participate in the 18th CAEXPO and to promote future cooperation between Myanmar and Guangxi in sectors spanning economy, trade, technology and culture. 

Wang Lei, secretary-general of the CAEXPO Secretariat, briefed the economic and trade achievements that CAEXPO has made in the past 17 years together with the current preparation situations of the upcoming 18th CAEXPO during the meeting. 

Both sides expressed their hope that more high-quality Burmese products can enter the Chinese market while more powerful Chinese companies can invest in Myanmar through the platforms offered by the CAEXPO. 

The Burmese envoy noted that the exhibition area for Myanmar to showcase its charm of its traditional culture in this year's event will reach 81 square meters and 19 companies have now applied for the exhibition. 

Issues related to the current COVID-19 pandemic situation in Myanmar were also discussed during the meeting. Kyaw Soe Thien requested more medical assistance from the CAEXPO Secretariat.

Wang said that the CAEXPO Secretariat has donated batches of anti-pandemic materials to Myanmar and the secretariat will continue to work with Myanmar to fight against the pandemic.
