An all-cargo air route between Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, officially opened on Aug 5, and launched its first carrier operated by Tianjin Air Cargo from Nanning Wuxu International Airport.

The carrier was loaded with cargo such as raw materials and electronic products.

It has marked the launch of the third all-cargo air route between Nanning and ASEAN countries following the first two that were heading to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Manila, the Philippines.

Deng Guangwen, deputy director of Nanning Customs, said that the communication between Guangxi and ASEAN members has become closer with the rapid construction of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor and the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

The total import and export volume between Guangxi and ASEAN members in the first half of 2021 reached 145.06 billion yuan ($22.4 billion) with a year-on-year increase of 36.4 percent.

Diao Weihong, deputy director of the Commerce Department of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that Guangxi is now taking measures such as promoting the construction of overseas warehouses in ASEAN countries and supporting the establishment of cross-border electronic commerce cultivation bases to move forward the coordinated development of cross-border e-commerce and logistics.

This new all-cargo air route, together with the previous routes, is expected to establish an air cargo transport network between Nanning and ASEAN countries, boosting the development of Guangxi's open economy.
