A ceremony for a planned integrated tourism and rehabilitation project near Guilin's Taohua River in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region was held on Aug 5.
The region is expected to build a town that will offer various forms of health tourism such as healthcare vacations, cultural leisure activities and commercial entertainment within the confines of the unique natural scenery and profound heritage of the Taohua River.
The project, to be jointly built by the Silversun Group and the Zhong An Holding Group, is located in the northern part of Guilin's Lingui district. With an overall investment of more than 5 billion yuan ($773.46 million), the town will cover a total area of 4,443 mu (296.2 hectares) and a floorage of 2 million square meters.
Yang Shiqi, chief planner of the project, said that the town will strive to become a popular tourism destination for big health in the Pearl River Delta.
Guilin has been devoting efforts in turning the city into an international tourist resort in recent years and has taken an active role in implementing a developmental concept of integrating tourism to attract more tourists from both home and abroad.
