Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region's Hengxian county was officially named Hengzhou city on July 29.

The county-level city is now under the direct jurisdiction of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and under the management of Nanning.

Hengzhou, located in Guangxi's south-central region, is east to Nanning, which is the capital of the region. It is also located at the intersection of the Pearl River-Xijiang River Economic Belt and the Beibu Gulf Economic Zone.

Enjoying the reputation as the "city of jasmine flowers," the city now has 80 percent total yield of China's jasmine flowers, and over 60 percent of the world's total. Hengzhou jasmine flowers have become the most valuable agricultural brand in Guangxi with an overall comprehensive brand value of 20.69 billion yuan ($3.2 billion).

In addition, the city is also the national production base of commodity grain and cane sugar, China's largest production base for agaricus bisporus and sweet corn, as well as one of Guangxi's largest silkworm production bases.

The e-commerce industry in Hengzhou is also prospering as it is China's first rural Taobao innovation incubation center and has a three-tiered e-commerce network service system covering the county, town and village levels.

An official from Hengzhou said that the city will speed up the construction of becoming a regional sub-central city and continue to become the world's jasmine flower industrial center.
