Guangxi rolls out major project construction plan for 2021-23

Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has unveiled its three-year action plan (2021-23) for promoting major project construction, with goals including an annual growth rate of 15 percent in investment and a total investment volume of 3.84 trillion yuan ($590 billion).

The region will strive to build a more reasonable structure for its major projects by 2023, with industrial projects accounting for more than half, and completed investment accounting for more than 40 percent. Private investment projects will take up more than 60 percent, with completed investment reaching more than 32 percent.

Guangxi will promote the construction of major projects, expand effective investment, optimize its investment structure, and enhance the leading role of major projects in high-quality economic development through measures such as improving project promotion mechanisms, innovating coordination and service methods, and strengthening support.

In terms of industry, Guangxi will focus on the construction of a number of projects in advantageous industries to strengthen its industrial chain, increase the improvement of industries' technology and equipment, and enhance technological transformation and key core technology research. The region will also promote the green transformation of traditional industries and build more than 60 green factories.

In terms of its service industry, Guangxi will promote the integrated development of advanced manufacturing, modern agriculture and its modern service industry and upgrade its modern service industry clusters. It will also upgrade the development of industries such as healthcare, culture, and sports, and promote the construction of big health and cultural tourism projects.

Guangxi will implement high-quality grain projects, build more than 4 million mu (267,000 hectares) of high-standard farmland, and push forward projects such as the 2 million mu national reserve forest base.

The region will promote new infrastructure construction. More than 20,000 new 5G base stations will be built in the next three years. Guangxi will also renovate more than 170,000 old residential houses, as well as building more than 3,000 kilometers of underground pipeline networks.
