Longlin Various Nationalities autonomous county is located in Northwest Guangxi and is the only autonomous county of the city of Baise. At the end of 2019, the county's total population was 4.38 billion, of which ethnic minorities accounted for 80.49 percent of the total. Longlin is one of the four extremely impoverished counties in Guangxi.

Longlin's history can be dated back to the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and the year 1953 marks the establishment of the county.

Longlin has obvious geographical advantages and is an area for Southwest regions like Yunnan province and Guizhou province to go overseas. Longlin is rich in natural resources and is an important energy base of the national "west-to-east" power transmission project.

Longlin boasts unique and various cultural features, such as fabulous cultural landscapes and colorful ethnic customs.

In the first quarter of 2020, the county achieved a regional GDP of 1.38 billion yuan ($199.12 million), a year-on-year increase of 9.2 percent. Its fixed asset investment increased by 27.0 percent year-on-year and the total retail sales of consumer goods decreased by 3.9 percent.

The added value of its primary industry was 179 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.7 percent, and that of its secondary industry and its tertiary industry were 407 million yuan and 796 million yuan, up 14 percent and 9.1 percent respectively.

The per capita disposable income of urban residents and rural residents were 8,709 yuan and 2,335 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.9 percent and 5.8 percent respectively.
