Latest guidelines on wearing masks in Guangxi

The following guidelines on wearing masks for the public issued by the Command Office of COVID-19 Prevention and Control of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region aims to promote the regular prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic, while continuing the region's economic and social development.

1. For the general public

People at home or doing outdoor activities have no need to wear masks. However, it is suggested that disposable medical masks or medical surgical masks be prepared and a social safety distance of more than 1 meter from other people should be maintained when visiting parks.

People do not need to wear masks when riding bicycles or driving cars, but should wear disposable medical masks or medical surgical masks when taking public transportation like buses, subways, coaches, trains, ships, and airplanes.

People need to prepare disposable medical masks or surgical masks when going to public places like supermarkets, shopping malls, restaurants, exhibition halls, museums, and gyms. They can take off masks in well-ventilated and non-crowded places, with a social safety distance of more than 1 meter from other people.

People should wear disposable medical masks or medical surgical masks in theaters, movie theaters, underground or relatively closed shopping venues, internet cafes, as well as public elevators with poor ventilation.

People in meeting rooms with effective ventilation do not need to wear masks if they are able to maintain a social safety distance of more than 1 meter from other people.

2. For personnel in specific places

Personnel in offices and workshops are not required to wear masks if there is effective ventilation and they are able to maintain a safe distance of more than 1 meter from other people.

Service personnel in public places like shops, public transportation, restaurants, canteens, hotels, as well as enterprise reception desks should wear disposable medical masks or surgical masks.

It is not recommended that kids wear masks. Teachers, nurses, cleaning staff, and cafeteria staff in kindergarten units shall wear disposable medical masks or surgical masks. Students and teachers in primary and secondary schools do not need to wear masks when having classes, but other school service personnel should wear disposable medical masks or medical surgical masks. Students and teachers in universities and colleges do not need to wear masks in places where there is effective ventilation and they are able to maintain a safe social distance of more than 1 meter, but service personnel should wear disposable medical masks or medical surgical masks.

People visiting hospitals should wear disposable medical masks or medical surgical masks.

Personnel in nursing homes, welfare homes, prisons, and mental health institutions do not need to wear masks. However, visitors and service staff should wear disposable medical masks or medical surgical masks.

3. Priority population groups

People with a fever, cough, and other symptoms should wear medical surgical masks or protective masks with no breathing valve conforming to the KN95/N95 level or above.

Patients with severe cardiopulmonary diseases should wear masks under the guidance of doctors and infants under 3 years old cannot wear masks.

Notice:

1) When feeling uncomfortable while wearing a mask, such as chest tightness and shortness of breath, people should immediately go to an open place outdoors and remove the mask.

2) Discarded masks must be properly disposed of. Masks worn in medical and health institutions, masks worn by staff members in crowded places, and other suspected contaminated discarded masks need to be stored separately and treated as hazardous waste.
