Guangxi, Taiwan deepen agricultural cooperation
In order to further deepen the agricultural cooperation between Guangxi and Taiwan, as well as promote the development of cross-Straits integration, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has issued a three-year action plan for the construction of Guangxi-Taiwan agricultural cooperation demonstration bases from 2020 to 2022.
The corresponding supporting Guangxi-Taiwan Agricultural Cooperation Demonstration Base Certification Assessment Management Measures (Trial) was also introduced.
Jointly issued by the Taiwan Affairs Office of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and the Guangxi Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the action plan clarified the overall requirements for the construction of Guangxi-Taiwan agricultural cooperation demonstration bases, including construction principles, work objectives and construction tasks, as well as safeguards.
According to the plan, Guangxi will build and recognize more than 20 Guangxi-Taiwan agricultural cooperation demonstration bases by 2022, mainly focusing on industries like tea, fruit, fisheries, edible fungi, leisure agriculture, as well as the integration of agricultural production, processing, and market service.
The agricultural cooperation bases are expected to achieve a total annual operating income of more than 100 million yuan ($14.11 million), facilitate the exchange and cooperation of 20 new agricultural varieties, new technologies, new industries, new formats, and new models, as well as foster 20 wholly-owned or cooperative enterprises of Taiwan investors.
The plan also made specific requirements in terms of enhancing standardization, industrial agglomeration capabilities, demonstration driving capabilities, and exchange activities.
