Qin Chuncheng, mayor of Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and a deputy to the National People's Congress, promoted the famous tourism city to people all over the country through interviews with national and autonomous region-level media outlets.

Qin promoted Guilin's travel package in an interview on May 26 with wenming.cn, a national website of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CCCPC), and warmly invited people from all over the country to travel to Guilin.

He noted that Guilin is one of the first batch of national historical and cultural cities, with many different splendid cultural heritages integrated in the city, such as the prehistoric civilization of Zengpiyan site, the landscape culture of Guihai Tablets Forest, and the folk culture of ethnic minorities.

In addition to its colorful culture and beautiful scenery, Qin also showcased Guilin rice noodles, a traditional snack with a history dating back some 2,000 years that uses the water from the Lijiang River and the rice grown in Guilin as raw materials, in an interview with Guangxi Daily.

In an interview with chinanews.com, Qin noted that Guilin has taken a set of measures to promote the recovery of the cultural and tourism industry as the COVID-19 epidemic situation gets better.

The city has strengthened policy funding assistance. Nine incentive measures to promote the development of cultural tourism were introduced, while a special support fund of 10 million yuan ($1.4 million) was set up to reward and support tourism enterprises. The city government also helped the resumption of production of the tourism industry, as well as guided the orderly and controlled opening of related venues and business units.

In addition, the city has vigorously carried out tourism promotion, including launching multiple themed activities and a number of surrounding tourist routes, providing a discount of 20 percent to 50 percent on tickets for A-level scenic spots in the city, issuing a batch of tourism coupons, as well as conducting online tourism promotion by live streaming on major digital platforms.

These measures have gradually accelerated Guilin's tourism industry recovery. The total number of tourists received by the city during the May Day holiday reached 667,000, and the total tourism consumption was 320 million yuan.
