With the strong support of Guangdong province, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has lifted 4.5 million people out of poverty in four years, with its poverty incidence decreasing from 10.5 percent to 0.6 percent.

Guangxi has deepened cooperation with Guangdong province in poverty alleviation since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, focusing on financial support, talent exchanges, industrial cooperation, and labor service cooperation. From 2016 to 2019, the two parties implemented 1,166 poverty alleviation projects and invested 3.68 billion yuan ($517.37 million), benefiting more than 1,000 impoverished villages and 1.6 million impoverished people.

During the COVID-19 epidemic, Guangxi and Guangdong have carried out labor service cooperation and made efforts in information management of impoviershed laborer employment, helping impoverished workers return to jobs in an orderly manner. As of the end of April, 98,757 workers have returned to Guangdong and 25,668 people have found jobs there. At present, there are nearly 400,000 impoverished people working in Guangdong.

Guangdong and Guangxi have also vigorously promoted industrial-driven poverty alleviation and consumption-driven poverty alleviation, as well as solved the problem of agricultural product sales in impoverished areas.

In the future, Guangxi and Guangdong will deepen the expansion of cooperation, promote regional coordinated development, accelerate the interconnection of infrastructure between the two places, strengthen industrial cooperation, and promote the construction of cooperation platforms between the two parties.
