Guangxi accelerates development of pharmaceutical industry
Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) epidemic, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has achieved a significant increase in the production capacity of epidemic prevention and control materials in the past two months. It has developed its pharmaceutical industry, while providing material support.
The region is now focusing on cultivating leading enterprises, building production bases, expanding industrial chains, as well as strengthening inspection and testing capabilities to accelerate the development of a medical COVID-19 epidemic prevention asset industry chain.
In order to alleviate the shortage of epidemic prevention materials, Guangxi has increased financial support for anti-epidemic materials enterprises, as well as opened green channels for examination and approval to bolster the production capacity and output of COVID-19 epidemic prevention materials.
At present, Guangxi has achieved full coverage in the production of nearly 40 kinds of COVID-19 epidemic prevention materials, forming an industry development pattern of medical materials with complete product categories. As of March 30, the total output of various masks exceeded 160 million, the production of medical rubber gloves was close to 30 million, the output of disinfection products exceeded 50,000 tons, and the daily output of epidemic prevention materials has risen to more than 2,600 tons.
The number of enterprises producing anti-epidemic materials has grown from more than 20 companies to more than 200, and the industry chain of pharmaceutical, health, and medical protection, such as protective clothing, ambulance medical equipment, and medicine, has begun to take shape.
In the future, the region will promote the development of the industry chain with a long-term prospective. It will cultivate leading companies in over 40 types of anti-COVID-19 epidemic products, including medical equipment, drugs, and antiseptic products. It will also set up production bases for medical anti-epidemic materials in the 14 cities of Guangxi, develop six industrial chains spanning masks, protective clothing, ambulances, medical devices, medicine, and disinfection supplies, as well as improve inspection and testing capabilities.
