Updated: 2020-02-29
The Development and Reform Commission of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has recently approved the proposal on the airport-railway express project of Nanning Wuxu International Airport, which will connect the airport with several railway and subway stations in the city.
Starting from Nanning Wuxu International Airport and connecting with the airport's global translator community (GTC) project, the express line has a total length of about 23 kilometers with five stations. One vehicle depot in charge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of trains will also be built. The line runs along Airport Road, the Nanning-Chongzuo Railway Corridor, Youyi Road, the South Loop Railway Corridor, and Yuehu Road to Yudong Station of Metro Line 2 in Nanning.

The target speed of the project is 120 kilometers per hour, and the estimated total investment is about 8.45 billion yuan ($120.58 million).
After completion, the project will improve Nanning's urban comprehensive transportation system, strengthen the rapid connection between Nanning Wuxu International Airport and Wuxiang New District, enhance the capacity of urban transportation service support, as well as promote the development of the airport economic zone.
In the future, Nanning Wuxu International Airport will be built into a gateway hub for ASEAN countries.
GTC is the first comprehensive transportation hub in Guangxi that integrates civil aviation, intercity railways, highways, and urban rail transit. It is expected that after the project is completed in 2021, passengers can transfer by plane, high-speed rail, subway or light rail at one location. The passenger flow and convenient transport service can be comparable to that of Shanghai Hongqiao Airport.
