Guangxi State Farms Group is a large-scale State-owned enterprise directly under the management of the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region people's government. It currently governs 112 enterprises and public institutions, as well as 14 characteristic industrial parks, covering 170,000 hectares of land area with a population of 414,000.Under the development idea of "innovation, harmony, green, openness, and sharing", the group has promoted the economic construction of its three pillar industries, namely sugar, cassava starch, and stock farming. It also engages in the businesses of tea, aquatic products, subtropical fruits and vegetables, mineral water and beverages, and real estate.

In recent years, the group has been actively involved in the Belt and Road Initiative,  cooperating with neighboring countries, including Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Burma, Laos, and Russia. Relying on its multiple advantages of land, industrial resources, farming, and agrotechny, the group has built economic and trade cooperation ties with more than 40 countries and regions, and has carried out technical exchanges with 46 scientific research institutions to stimulate innovation.

In 2017, Guangxi State Farms Group generated 54.44 billion yuan ($8.1 billion) in GDP, an increase of 7 percent. Its total value of agricultural output hit 10.24 billion yuan, up 7.9 percent year-on-year. The group’s gross trading income totaled 10.88 billion yuan and its total profit reached 501 million yuan.
