As of the end of November, Guangdong province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region have worked together to help purchase and sell 19.6 billion yuan ($2.8 billion) of special agricultural products from impoverished counties in Guangxi, lifting 231,800 people out of poverty.

Guangxi and Guangdong have promoted consumption driven poverty alleviation activities as key collaborative issues at the provincial and autonomous regional level, setting up a targeted production and sales matchmaking platform for villages, as well as organizing 33 national impoverished counties to recommend local specialties and market participants, such as enterprises, cooperatives, and family farms.

A total of 22 suppliers have been approved by the State Council to participate in government procurement directly on the supply-sale cooperative platforms. At present, 49 products in several impoverished areas in Guangxi are available for sale.

Guangxi has established a long-term supply-sale platform at the Guangdong East-West Poverty Alleviation Cooperative Product Trading Market to help impoverished people sell products and increase their income. The two places have also carried out activities to mobilize Guangdong purchasing groups to purchase products from impoverished areas in Guangxi, inviting leading enterprises and customers in Guangdong to participate in the events.

To date, 428 companies have attended several trade fairs and more than 3,300 categories of agricultural products have been exhibited. The purchase and sales amount reached 40.2 billion yuan and 39 projects were signed with an investment of 26.21 billion yuan.

In addition, Guangxi has encouraged private enterprises to help impoverished people by buying products and services from those impoverished areas. It has also attracted tourists to these areas with preferential tourism policies.
