Intl symposium held to explore new development of socialism

Experts from 39 Chinese universities and research institutions, as well as foreign experts and scholars from countries like Russia, the United Kingdom, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and Laos gathered at Guangxi University for Nationalities and discussed the international development of socialism on Dec 15.

The international symposium of the 46th Academic Forum of the National Association for the study of Marxist Theory in Colleges and Universities had the theme of "International Development of Socialism and Progress of Human Civilization in the 21st Century."

Bian Chenglin, Party secretary of Guangxi University for Nationalities, said that the symposium will help the academic community to fully understand the significance of socialism with Chinese characteristics, enhance the international influence of socialist thought with Chinese characteristics, and promote international academic exchanges in Marxist research.

Zhang Leisheng, vice president of the National Association for the Study of Marxist Theory in Colleges and Universities, gave an overview of the development process of the association and the dynamics of the Marxist Theory discipline at the symposium.

Participants also conducted in-depth discussions on topics like the new development of socialism in the 21st century, the study of Marxism in the 21st century, the study of international communication of Marxism in the 21st century, the study of globalization issues and the building of a community with a  shared future for mankind, the study of the paths and modes of modernization in developing countries, as well as the mutual learning of human culture exchanges and the construction of socialist culture.

In addition, 29 domestic and foreign experts and scholars made speeches at the symposium, providing new ideas for the new development of socialism.
