The flowery bamboo hats of the Maonan ethnic gorup in Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county in South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region is a beautiful handicraft of the local Maonan women, which are used as rain gear.
The flower bamboo hats are woven from the local golden bamboo and bamboo splits. They are characterized by their exquisite craftsmanship, beautiful patterns, generous hat shapes, and durability. The flower bamboo hats of the Maonan people also boast unique weaving styles. Every hat is made up of two layers inside and outside, with 12 pieces in the inner layer and 15 pieces in the surface layer.
The weaving skills of Maonan bamboo hats were included on the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritages on May 23, 2011.
