The Maonan Yinyun Art Troupe of Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region presented an audio-visual feast at the Melbourne Art Festival on Oct 18, marking its first performance in Australia.

The performance mainly focused on the original folk songs and dances of ethnic minorities such as the Maonan and Yao in China, which are living in Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county of Guangxi, highlighting the unique ethnic customs and cultures of ethnic minority areas in southern China.

The exquisite performance full of exotic styles was warmly received by the audience, eliciting rounds of applause. The Australian local art troupe South Pacific also performed, highlighting Australian-style guitar playing and singing, as well as aboriginal dances and performances.

The Maonan ethnic group has a population of less than 100,000. Huanjiang Maonan autonomous county, located in the northwestern part of Guangxi, is the birthplace of the Maonan people and a world natural heritage site. The Nuo culture of the Maonan ethnic group has a history of more than 300 years, mainly represented by Nuo dance, Nuo song, Nuo opera, as well as musical instruments and costumes. It is listed as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Huanjiang attaches great importance to the inheritance and dissemination of its ethnic cultures. The Maonan Yinyun Art Troupe has been invited to perform in countries like the United States, Germany, Thailand, and Vietnam, spreading Maonan culture on major stages across the world.

10月18日，在澳大利亚墨尔本艺术节的大舞台上出现了一群身着少数民族服装的中国人，在一阵悠扬的民族器乐伴奏下，伴随着嘹亮的原生态民歌响起，一场极具东方少数民族特色的视听盛宴精彩上演，这也是广西环江毛南族自治县“毛南音韵”艺术团在澳洲的首次亮相。

节目主要以生活在广西环江毛南族自治县境内的中国毛南族、瑶族等少数民族原生态民歌与原生态舞蹈为主，着重展示中国南方少数民族地区特有的民族风情与文化形态。充满异域风情的精彩表演赢得了观众的热烈欢迎，整个大厅坐无虚席，掌声不断。澳洲本地艺术团"南太平洋"也为本场晚会精心准备了舞蹈《南太平洋岛之声》，还有澳洲风情吉他弹唱、澳洲本地土著表演穿插其中。

毛南族是中国22个人口在10万人以下的少数民族之一。位于广西西北部的环江县是毛南族世居发祥地，是世界自然遗产地。毛南族傩文化距今已有300多年历史，主要以傩舞、傩歌、傩乐、傩戏、傩面及乐器和服饰等体现，因其神秘性、民族性、原生态与唯一性被列为国家级非物质文化遗产保护名录。

环江高度重视民族文化的传承和传播工作，毛南音韵艺术团作为文化使者，相继受邀到美国、德国、泰国、越南进行展演，使毛南文化之花在世界各大舞台绚丽绽放。今年是中华人民共和国成立70周年，毛南民族文化再次走出国门，在澳洲盛开友谊之花，表达了环江人民对祖国的美好祝愿。
