Industrial development of Guangxi in 2018

In 2018, the total industrial added value of Guangxi's industries increased by 4.7 percent over the previous year, and the added value of Guangxi's industries above designated size increased by 4.7 percent year-on-year.

The profits of industries above designated size amounted to 110.01 billion yuan ($15.54 billion), a year-on-year increase of 1.9 percent. Among them, the profits of state-owned holding enterprises were 40.76 billion yuan, up 11.0 percent over the previous year, the profits of joint-stock enterprises were 77.35 billion yuan, up 1.2 percent, and that of foreign-invested enterprises from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan were 26.86 billion yuan, up 12.7 percent.

In terms of sectors, the mining industry's profits were 4.99 billion yuan, up 0.2 percent over the previous year, the manufacturing industry's profits were 96.52 billion yuan, up 0.1 percent, and the profits of the electricity, heat, gas, and water production and supply industries were 8.51 billion yuan, up 29.3 percent.

Highlights:

The added value of high-tech industries increased by 11.6 percent, and the added value of advanced manufacturing increased by 12.8 percent. The development of strategic emerging industries has broken through, and the industries of computer communication equipment manufacturing, software, and information services have developed rapidly. The number of new market entities was 532,000, and more than 600 new high-tech enterprises have been newly introduced, with a total number reaching more than 1,800.

Guangxi has built industrial chains and industrial clusters, such as automobiles, construction machinery, and aluminum deep processing, as well as built Nanning, Liuzhou, Yulin, and Guigang into modern manufacturing cities.

Five projects that Guangxi participated in have won the second prize of the National Science Progress Award. The region also introduced seven new national enterprise technology centers, one national and local joint engineering research center, 19 key laboratories at the autonomous region level, as well as 32 engineering and technology research centers. A total of 563 scientific and technological achievements were introduced and transformed.
