Cooperation between China and ASEAN countries in the new economic fields drew much attention at the 16th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), which was held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, from Sept 21 to 24.

E-commerce, which has been born out of the integration of a new generation of information technology and trade circulation, is becoming a powerful driver of economic growth.

Peng Xiaochun, Party secretary of Baise, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, said that China-ASEAN political and business sectors are promoting the development of cross-border e-commerce to spur the development of bilateral trade.

"E-commerce in China has become a new engine for opening up, contributed to the Belt and Road Initiative, and promoted the transformation and development of traditional industries," said Zhu Lian, an officer of the Electronic Commerce and Information Department of the Ministry of Commerce.

A number of high-tech products exhibited at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center, such as 5G applications and robots, have attracted many visitors.

Li Changguan, secretary general of the Secretariat of the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, said that new technologies, new economies, and new industries are helping drive current economic development and creating huge business opportunities.

Cooperation between China and ASEAN countries in new economic technology and digital economy has proved successful. A large number of internet and innovation enterprises are beginning to emerge, and an online Silk Road that helps connect the virtual space is spurring the development of the real economy.
