China-ASEAN art exhibition staged in Nanning

The 2019 China-ASEAN Drama and Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition was held by the Guangxi Culture and Tourism Department and the Nanning municipal people's government at Nanning Museum from Sept 15 to 18.

Consisting of an art co-exhibition of China and ASEAN countries, as well as a photography exhibition of Cantonese Opera, the exhibition showcased more than 200 artworks from China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, and other countries, covering intangible cultural heritages categories like drama, photography, oil paintings, puppetry, musical instruments, traditional costumes, embroidery, sculpture, and handicrafts.

In the China-ASEAN art co-exhibition, Vietnam exhibited more than 50 pieces, spanning props, costumes, accompaniment instruments, and folk culture crafts of water puppet dramas and stage plays. Indonesia showcased 20 works of art by craft artists, and Cambodia displayed more than 60 masks, sculptures, traditional costumes, and handicrafts.

The photography exhibition focusing on Cantonese Opera provided attendees the ability to better understand the development of Cantonese Opera through 70 photos.

The exhibited works were representative of the outstanding traditional culture and art of China and ASEAN countries. They epitomized the artist's craftsmanship and reflected the charm of culture and art in China and ASEAN countries, spanning dramatic arts, national culture and history, traditional customs, as well as intangible cultural heritages.

The exhibition also promoted the communication, exchange, interaction, and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries' culture and art scenes.
