A 5G network has been put into use in 158 universities and colleges in 14 cities of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to provide 5G high-speed smart new experiences for nearly one million college students.

According to the 5G network test data of universities, such as Guangxi University, Guangxi University for Nationalities, and Guangxi Medical University, the peak download rate reaches 1,043 Mbps, and the peak upload rate reaches 115 Mbps, which is more than 10 times that of 4G. Downloads and uploads can be transmitted in seconds.

"It is expected that by the end of this year, Guangxi Mobile will complete the 5G network coverage of all universities in Guangxi," said a leader of Guangxi Mobile.

Guangxi Mobile has carried out 5G pilot constructions in Guangxi since last year, and has already opened 5G network in all 14 cities, covering important business districts, key scenic spots, hospitals, and transportation hubs.

5G provides great improvements in transmission speed, reduced delay, mobility, efficiency, coverage, and connection density. Therefore, it will accelerate development of the entire education industry, bring more powerful functions and more diversified experiences, as well as promote development and changes in various fields, such as virtual experiments, distance education, online education, and campus smart security management.

The 5G network enables students to receive classroom materials and courseware in real time through the screen in the remote interactive classroom. They can also transmit their answers back to the teachers in real time. 5G applications can also help students get in and out of classrooms, dormitories, and libraries by facial recognition.
