The container freighter route from Guangxi Beibu Gulf ports to Manila, Philippines was officially opened on Aug 21. The route code is "CPV" and the main ports of call include Qinzhou, Hong Kong, and Manila. This is also the first container freighter direct route between the two places.

Two container freighters have been put into operation on the route, which is operated by Xinhaifeng Container Lines Co Ltd. It departs from Qinzhou Port in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region every Wednesday, reaching Manila North Port in five days and Manila South Port in seven days.

Guangxi Beibu Gulf ports are one of the major ports along the coast of China. In the first half of 2019, Beibu Gulf ports completed cargo throughput of 19.98 million tons, ranking 13th among all the ports in the country. Qinzhou Port, an important part of Beibu Gulf ports, has opened more than 40 international and domestic container routes. It also has access to more than 150 ports in more than 70 countries and regions.

The opening of this direct route will provide a new path and convenient service for import and export goods between Southwest China and Manila.
