Guangxi should build innovation-driven think tanks that focus on policy research and consultation to provide intellectual support for regional prosperity, said Hong Bo, president of the Guangxi Federation of Social Sciences, in his interview with people.cn.
Huang pointed out that unprecedented opportunities have appeared for the development of think tanks in Guangxi. A basic think tank system has taken shape, featuring a full range of disciplines and distinct regional characteristics.
However, gaps still exist between Guangxi think tanks and those throughout other domestic provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities. To catch up, Huang proposed making local think tanks more independent, and their legal and societal status should be further specified.
The six categories of think tanks, which focus on government, social sciences, universities, scientific institutions, and enterprises, should perform their respective duties while also beefing up cooperation and sharing resources under a unified management.
Additionally, a channel will be offered for think tanks to declare their achievements, and rules on accreditation and incentives should be detailed.
