Sanjiang Dong Style, a folk performance produced by the Guilin Fuda Culture & Tourism Development Co Ltd, premiered at the Sanjiang Dong Ethnic Opera House on Jan 24.

The water-themed show, the result of an integration of local culture and tourism, showcases Sanjiang's picturesque natural scenery and magnificent ethnic culture. It is made up of three chapters showcasing the life, farming practices, festivals, marriage customs and culinary delicacies of the Zhuang, Yao and Dong ethnic groups.

To enhance engagement, the audience has also been invited to participate in the Thief Expelling Festival and the Carrying Officials custom, and to sample a local specialty -- camellia oleifera.

Talents behind the curtain includes chief director Fan Xiaosuo, a national first-class director and winner of the Golden Lion Award, well-known composer Zhang Qing, and costume designer Akuan, who was responsible for costume design for the gala in celebration of Guangxi's 60th anniversary.

Sanjiang, a county traditionally inhabited by the Dong people, is home to four 4A scenic spots and five 3A scenic spots. The folk performance is expected to spur local tourism development, said Lan Meiqing, deputy Party chief of the county.
