Dongxing Checkpoint in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region processed a recoding-breaking 12.19 million crossings in 2018, a year-on-year increase of 18.24 percent.

The checkpoint, which connects with Vietnam's Mong Cai Checkpoint via the Beilun River Bridge, is one of the most convenient passages between China and Vietnam.

Its increasing traffic can be largely attributed to the establishment of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and the Dongxing National Key Development and Opening-up Experimental Zone, the opening of the China-Vietnam Beilun No 2 Bridge, and budding cross-border tourism.

Border clearance time at the checkpoint was cut to less than 30 minutes last year as required by the State Immigration Administration.

This was made possible by 26 additional self-service border-crossing lanes, four extra staffed border-crossing lanes, and another 450 square meters of inspection area. The checkpoint is now able to handle 50,000 crossings daily, and at least 3,100 passengers can be cleared every 30 minutes.
