Guangxi receives 7.68m New Year revelers
Tourism revenue rose by 14.9 percent year-on-year to 6.2 billion yuan ($887.7 million) during the New Year's Day holiday, as 7.68 million people visited Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region from Dec 29 to Jan 1.
Short-distance trips, with a variety of focuses ranging from healthcare to folk culture and countryside leisure, are becoming a tourist trend in the region.
A family treasure-hunt at the Guangxi Botanical Garden of Medical Plants, the first Dinosaur Scarecrow Tourism Festival at the Nanning Huayu Lake Ecological & Leisure Tourism Area, and a series of New Year's activities at the Beihai Golden Bay Mangrove Ecological Tourism Area were among the most popular tourism events over the holiday.

Daming, Darong, and Gupo mountains were also inundated with tourists due to their fascinating rime scenery.
The effectiveness of recent promotional tourism events held in Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces was clearly shown over the holiday, as the number of travelers from Northeast China increased significantly. These tourists showed particular interest in travel routes related to healthcare, local legendary folk singer Liu Sanjie, Hongshui River, geological parks and red tourism.
