Guangxi entered the high-speed railway era five years ago when a train left Guilin for Beijing. It's come a long way since 2013, and the region has exciting plans for its continued development.

Guangxi is now connected to 18 provinces, municipalities and special administrative regions across the country by high-speed railway.

According to China Railway Nanning Group Co Ltd, Guangxi’s high-speed railways have served 290 million passengers over the past five years, six times the number of permanent residents in the region.

The total mileage of Guangxi high-speed rail lines has reached 1,771 kilometers in 2018, and is expected to hit 2,000 by 2020.

Currently, there are three high-speed rail lines under construction, the Fangchenggang-Dongxing, Nanning-Chongzuo, and Guiyang-Nanning railways, which will begin operation in 2021, 2022 and 2023, respectively.
