The first China (Guilin) Citrus Industry Expo and High-Quality Development Summit will be held in Guilin's Yongfu county from Jan 12 to 14.
The event will be organized by the Yongfu Famous and Special Agricultural Product Association under the supervision of the China Fruit Marketing Association and Guilin Citrus Association.
It will link farmers with sales channels to propel the market-oriented development of the citrus industry while also raising the profile of local products, according to Liao Xianmei, deputy mayor of the county.
Slated are an opening ceremony, exhibition & trade fairs, matchmaking conferences, an investigation of local citrus plantations, and picking activities.
The China Fruit Marketing Association will brief audiences on the production and sales status of China's citrus at the China Citrus Industry High-quality Development Summit. Renowned domestic citrus experts and business representatives will also share the latest developments and achievements in the industry.
Nearly 300 exhibitors involved with citrus fruit production, agricultural products, food-processing, and agricultural technology will attend the exhibition & trade fairs to showcase their products, technology, services and achievements.
Yongfu will sign a cooperation agreement with the College of Sciences of the China Agricultural University to build a joint poverty-alleviation base and improve citrus-planting technology.
Yongfu, located north of the Tropic of Cancer, enjoys a mild climate with abundant sunshine and rainfall, making it an ideal place to grow high-quality citrus fruit. It now has 397,000 mu (26,467 hectares) of citrus fruit plantations throughout the county, and was listed among China's Top 30 Counties with the Best Citrus Industries this year.
