A total of 12 electrolytic aluminum, alumina and coal, electricity and aluminum integration enterprises in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region obtained sewage discharge permits in early November, nearly two months ahead of the time limit set by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China.

It marks the aluminum smelting enterprises of Guangxi (not containing recycled aluminum) entering a new stage of "certificate discharge and supervision".

The Party committee and government of the region have always attached great importance to the development of the aluminum industry.

Since the National Development and Reform Commission approved the "Implementation Plan of the Guangxi Baise Eco-Aluminum Demonstration Base" in 2011, Baise has fully promoted the development of the eco-aluminum industry. A number of major aluminum industry and supporting projects have been completed and put into operation, and a number of coal, electricity and aluminum integration projects are currently being implemented.

In 2017, the government of the region issued the "Guangxi Metallurgical Industry Second Entrepreneurship Implementation Plan (2017-2025)" to fully deploy the second venture of the Guangxi aluminum industry, promoting the optimization and upgrading of the aluminum industry structure and realizing its sustainable development. The total production value of the Baise aluminum industry exceeded 100 billion yuan ($14.4 billion).

The Guangxi Department of Ecological Environment arranged experts to visit aluminum enterprises to address technical problems encountered in the application process of corporate sewage permits in April of this year.

The department will next strengthen the supervision of the sewage discharge permits in accordance with the unified deployment of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, laying the ecological environment foundation for the high-quality development of the ecological aluminum industry in Guangxi.
