Guilin rice noodles to shine in Beijing
Guilin rice noodles, a well-known food in Guangxi and a unique geographical and cultural symbol, occupy a special status and function in Guilin's economic and social development.

On Nov 19 and 20, Guilin rice noodles, along with other well-known local specialities, will be promoted in Beijing in order to give publicity to Guilin's local products.
Running under the theme of "picturesque scenery and green ecological products in Guilin", the promotional conference is sponsored by the Department of Commerce of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Guilin municipal people's government, aiming to introduce the cultural theme of Guilin rice noodles.
Jiang Liansheng, head of the department, noted that Guilin rice noodles enjoy a good reputation at home and abroad, and are as famous as the Guilin landscape. He hoped that through the activities, the popularity of rice noodles can be further promoted and they can play a leading role in driving the healthy and sustainable development of local characteristic industries in Guangxi.

As a traditional food with a history of 2,000 years in the northern part of Guangxi, Guilin rice noodles were recognized as a national geographical trademark product in 2011. Over the past few years, Guilin has pushed forward the construction of a complete industrial system to accelerate the trade growth online and offline.
The total output value of Guilin rice noodles hit seven billion yuan ($1 billion) in 2017 and the added value accounted for 2.3 percent of GDP, according to official statistics. The rice noodles were exported to Canada this September, marking a milestone in their history. The government has additionally taken efforts to develop the ASEAN and global markets.
