Guangxi's Xilin county promotes poverty alleviation industry

In recent years, Xilin county, Baise city, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has continuously increased its support for poverty alleviation industries, enabling poverty-stricken households to participate in industrial development, to have stable income and to achieve long-term industrial poverty alleviation goals.

At the beginning of 2017, Xilin implemented the "4510" project for industrial poverty alleviation. The "4" represents 100,000 mu (6,666.67 hectares) of fruit, 100,000 mu of tea, 100,000 mu of oil-seed camellia, and 100,000 mu of Dendrobium candidum; the "5" means encouraging and supporting poverty-stricken households through independent development and shareholding operations to strive to have more than five acres of planting industry per household, the "10" refers to ensuring that each village collective has more than 10 mu of planting industry.  

As of the end of October this year, the county has completed the planting of 180,000 mu of fruit, 118,300 mu of tea, 104,000 mu of oil-seed camellia and 77,700 mu of Dendrobium candidum.

The target of more than five mu for per poverty-stricken household has been completed with 4,459 households totaling over 20,000 people.

The relevant departments of the county have integrated funds to purchase 440 mu of orchards and distributed them to 44 poverty-stricken villages.

The county invested a total of 23.5 million yuan ($3.38 million) in developing the collective economy of poverty-stricken villages. Through independent development, the collective income of 44 poverty-stricken villages in the county has reached more than 30,000 yuan.

More than 10,000 poverty-stricken households in the county now have industrial coverage, accounting for 91.64 percent of the county.

In addition, the county is paying attention to cultivating leading enterprises and professional cooperative economic organizations. At present, there are 14 leading enterprises, 375 farmer professional cooperatives, 32 family farms and 179 large-scale breeding households in the county.
