The China COSCO Shipping Corporation, the nation's largest shipping group by fleet size, signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in Shanghai on Nov 4.

As a super large state-owned enterprise, the China COSCO Shipping Corporation is the world's largest comprehensive shipping enterprise. Under the joint cooperation agreement with COSCO, Guangxi will have more resources to develop and construct new international land and sea trade routes, leading to common development for both sides, explains Chen Wu, chairman of the regional government.

Xu Lirong, chairman of China COSCO Shipping, took part in the signing ceremony, noting that the group will attach great importance to the new international land and sea trade routes, trying to help the region set up a new pattern of open development.

According to the agreement, both sides will make full use of the advantages of the construction of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Connectivity Initiative Southern Transport Corridor, opening more trains between node cities and the Beibu Gulf in Guangxi to establish a trunk line of sea-railway combined transportation, aiming to make the Beibu Gulf a regional international shipping center.

Additionally, to build a creative strategic partnership with win-win results, the Beibu Gulf Port Group and the China COSCO Shipping Corporation signed a strategic cooperation in the presence of their two leaders.
