After six days of exciting and fierce competition, the 2018 Union Cycliste Internationale Worldtour-Tour of Guangxi ended successfully in Guilin, South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on Oct 21.

Running from Oct 16 to 21, the cycling race attracted 195 outstanding cyclists belonging to 18 top teams from 34 different countries and regions. Covering six stages with a total combined length of 911.4 kilometers, the event ran across the five Guangxi cities of Beihai, Qinzhou, Nanning, Liuzhou and Guilin. Beihai, the first stop, welcomed the cyclists through special activities and the display of unique Zhuang ethnic customs.

A large number of government officials from home and abroad took part in the closing ceremony held in Guilin. Chen Wu, chairman of the regional government, spoke highly of the international sports event, and stated that it vividly shows the beautiful natural landscapes and distinctive ethnic customs in Guangxi, as well as the great achievements since the reform and opening-up in 1979. Additionally, the event helped increase the popularity and reputation of the region. In the future, Guangxi will try its best to make the tour a more influential international sports event, and a vital platform for countries to enhance friendship, exchanges and communication.

UCI president David Lappartient, secretary-general of the Chinese Cycling Association Wang Jianguo, and Dalian Wanda Group Chairman Wang Jianlin also addressed at the ceremony, expressing their sincere gratitude to the sponsors for the successful hosting of the event.
