On sept 21, the 2018 "Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival" was celebrated in Luwo Town, Zhongdang village in Nanning's Wuming district. 

At the festival, activities such as honoring the rice god, singing stirring songs, dancing, and transporting grain, herding pigs, catching chickens, as well as tasting an array of steamed buns, glutinous rice, and extrusion rice noodles were held.

The festival is celebrated to express an ardent expectation of farming culture, a bumper grain harvest and peace of the country. The launch of the 2018 "Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival" has become an important event for 710,000 Zhuang residents in Wuming. In addition to the main venue - Luwo Town, Zhongdang village, other districts in Wuming have also set up parallel sessions to celebrate the festival and share the joy of harvest.

To date, the district has established a batch of advantageous agricultural bases including 300,000 mu (20,000 hectares) of citrus, 210,000 mu of sugar cane, 200,000 mu of bananas, 150,000 mu of autumn and winter vegetables, 80,000 mu of silkworms, and 30,000 mu of dragon fruits, forming a group of advantageous industries such as sugar cane, fruits, vegetables, silkworms, poultry, pigs, and aquatic products.

Last year, the per capita disposable income of rural residents was 14,594 yuan ($2,128.43). Wuming has become the national commodity grain production base, national base to transport vegetables from the south to the north, Guangxi sugar cane production base, Guangxi tropical fruit and cassava starch production county, national modern agriculture demonstration zone, national agricultural product quality and safety county (district), as well as the national pig-raising county (district) for 11 consecutive years.

Wuming is the largest urban area in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, and one of the important birthplaces of Zhuang civilization. The total population of the district is 710,000, of which the Zhuang population accounts for 86.6 percent. As an important gathering place for Zhuang ethnic group, Wuming is recognized as one of the earliest places of rice culture in the world. The origin and development of Chinese rice culture is inextricably linked with Zhuang ethnic group.
