Updated: August 28, 2018

Founded in 1992, National Nanning Economic & Technological Development Area is one of the three major development zones in Nanning. In May 2001, it was approved as the national economic and technological development zone, first of its kind in Guangxi.

Covering an area of about 30 square kilometers, the zone is comprised of the Jinkai Industrial Park, the Yinkai Industrial Park, the Beibu Gulf Modern Industrial Park, the Biomedical Industry Park and the Central Commercial District. Wuwei Airport Economic Zone has a total planning area of 120 square kilometers, and it develops airport logistics, airport commerce, aviation maintenance and manufacturing, and the high-tech industry.

The area has unique regional traffic advantages. China's international hub airport for ASEAN - Nanning Wuwei International Airport, has opened more than 310 domestic routes and more than 40 international routes, reaching all the capital cities in China and capitals of many countries. It has the largest railway marshalling station in the southwest region and a container freight terminal.

With more than 20 years of unremitting efforts, Guangxi has become one of the regions with the greatest strength in reform and opening up, with the strongest momentum of development and the strongest driving force. At present, it has attracted the world's top 500 companies, such as Ping'an, Minsheng, GLP, China Post, and other renowned enterprises such as Yutong, Yanxiang, Wahaha, Mengniu, and Galanz at home and abroad to settle in, initially forming a parallel development pattern with biomedical, light industrial food, mechanical and electrical equipment, as well as modern service industry.

The zone boasts one national level laboratory, eight autonomous regional level laboratories, seven municipal level laboratories, a food and drug inspection and testing center, as well as a Guangxi Huayin medical laboratory of Southern Medical University.
