A grand opening ceremony for major projects in the second quarter of 2018 was held in Guigang, China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on May 18. One hundred and twenty major projects, with a total investment of 29.75 billion yuan ($4.35 billion), have started construction and some are already completed.

The projects cover such fields as industrial development, infrastructure, people's livelihoods, and energy conservation and environmental protection. Forty-three have a total investment of over 100 million yuan and seven have an investment of over 1 billion yuan. Construction of 90, with a total investment of 25 billion yuan, has already started.

The projects include manufacture of 5 million square meters of aluminum film and 100,000 aluminum carriages by Guangxi Zhongqiang Aluminum Technology Co Ltd with a total investment of 3.5 billion yuan, and the Guigang underground comprehensive pipe gallery (Phase I) and road engineering PPP project with a total investment of 1.62 billion yuan. Completed projects, with investment totaling 4.75 billion yuan, include renovation of Automobile Avenue of Guiyang Industrial Park, and the No 3 public transport parking lot in Guigang.
