Lyu Haiting, president of Malaysia Guangxi Chamber of Commerce (MGCC), said the group is striving to turn the strength of Guangxi merchants into a new bond for China-Malaysia cooperation, amid deepening China-ASEAN trade ties.

Founded in Kuala Lumpur in 2019 under the Belt and Road Initiative, MGCC has grown into an influential Chinese business group in Malaysia, with members across trade, finance, manufacturing, tech and services.

It serves as a key platform for Guangxi entrepreneurs and a window for Chinese governments and firms to better understand Malaysia, integrating scattered resources to boost bilateral cooperation.

Lyu organized a Guangxi merchants investment conference in 2023, drawing 300 Guangxi entrepreneurs. This year, MGCC will host the first China-ASEAN Guangxi Entrepreneurs Investment and AI Conference, exploring investment opportunities in Malaysia and AI development prospects with Guangxi merchants at home and abroad.

He noted RCEP has expanded China-Malaysia industrial cooperation, and praised Guangxi's leap in sci-tech and AI development. With over 600 weekly flights between China and Malaysia, Lyu expects deeper cooperation between Guangxi and Malaysia in AI and the digital economy, as Malaysia aims to build a strong AI application capacity by 2030 and values China's experience.
