The "Marching Forward Together, Singing for Friendship" China-Vietnam cultural exchange event took place in Nanning, Guangxi, from Oct 18 to 23.

Coinciding with China-ASEAN Music Week, the event included two concerts and a friendship tour, providing a lively platform for cross-border cultural exchange.

The first concert blended symphonic and folk music, performed by about 100 musicians from the Guangxi Symphony Orchestra, Guangxi Song and Dance Theater, and Vietnam's New Vitality Folk Orchestra. They played classic songs and melodies from both countries, engaging the audience with shared musical charm.

The second "Colorful China-Vietnam Styles" concert showcased traditional folk music works via solos and ensembles.

A Vietnamese conductor from the orchestra, who studied Chinese folk music in Shanghai for nine years, noted the deep musical connections between the two nations.

"Music is a bridge that links our hearts," he said, hoping for more such exchanges. A Vietnamese player also expressed her eagerness for further youth interactions.

A 40-member delegation from both orchestras participated in the "Ho Chi Minh Footprints Friendship Tour in Nanning". They visited historic sites like the former Nanning Yucai School, Qingxiu Mountain, and the Sanjie Liangxiang historical district, promoting mutual understanding through cultural exploration.

Organized by Guangxi's Department of Culture and Tourism and Foreign Affairs Office, the event blended artistic performances with cultural visits.

It not only highlighted the rich folk music heritage of both countries but also strengthened people-to-people bonds, laying a solid foundation for long-term China-Vietnam friendship.
