China-ASEAN forum in Guangxi focuses on AI ethics and cooperation

Senior science and technology officials from ASEAN nations expressed a strong commitment to boosting regional sci-tech innovation cooperation on Tuesday at the 13th Forum on China-ASEAN Technology Transfer and Collaborative Innovation in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The forum gathered leaders from China and ASEAN's science and technology management agencies, alongside academicians, experts, and business executives. It focused on the ethical advancement and inclusive use of AI, with the goal of joining forces to translate regional sci-tech cooperation gains into tangible benefits for everyday life.

A series of events unfolded during the opening session. The Ministry of Science and Technology released a three-year action plan outlining a roadmap to strengthen ASEAN's tech capabilities through AI.

Nearly 10 agreements on China-ASEAN sci-tech cooperation outcomes were also signed on-site, spanning six ASEAN countries and covering technology transfer and joint platform development.

The same day saw two milestone moments for youth engagement: the award ceremony for the 3rd China-ASEAN Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, which honored standout projects, and the launch of the competition's 4th edition, both aimed at fueling innovation and entrepreneurial passion among youths from China and ASEAN.

Beyond the main forum hall, a curated "AI+" interactive experience zone offered attendees an immersive dive into cutting-edge tech.
