Cross-border passenger traffic at Dongxing Port in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has surged this year, with entries and exits topping 2 million by March 16 – a 23 percent year-on-year rise and 14 days earlier than the same period in 2025, local border inspection authorities announced.
This strong growth highlights the thriving people-to-people exchanges between China and Vietnam along the border. Since the start of 2026, the port has handled more than 2,500 Vietnamese tour groups, welcoming 21,000 group tourists into China.

Cross-border tourism and cultural and sports exchanges have continued to experience rapid growth, with Vietnamese visitors praising the convenient customs clearance and rich local experiences, from night markets to popular regional foods and drinks.
To ensure smooth and efficient port operations amid rising passenger flows, the Dongxing exit and entry frontier inspection station has upgraded its services with smart port measures. It deploys staff dynamically based on passenger numbers, opens additional inspection lanes during peak hours, and runs a pre-inspection system for tour groups that has significantly reduced clearance time.

"We are committed to safeguarding the border and serving every traveler wholeheartedly, making China-Vietnam exchanges warmer and cross-border trips safer and more convenient," said Wei Luyao, a local police officer.
With streamlined clearance and diverse cultural tourism options, Dongxing Port has become a key link for China-Vietnam friendship and a vibrant hub for cross-border people-to-people communication.
