China-ASEAN seminar on governance held in Nanning

The Seminar of China-ASEAN Academies on Governance and Public Administration and Think Tanks took place in Nanning, capital of South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on Nov 3, with a focus on state, regional, and global governance.

Under the theme "National Governance and Asian Civilizations", the event drew about 100 participants from ASEAN member states, along with Chinese officials, experts, and scholars from think tanks, research institutions, and universities.

Xie Chuntao, executive vice president of the National Academy of Governance responsible for daily operations, delivered a keynote speech. He emphasized China's method of developing and executing economic and social development plans. 

He also pointed out how the Communist Party of China uses these plans as a political tool, helping to modernize national governance and promote a fairer global governance system.

Wei Tao, governor of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, met with ASEAN participants to discuss Guangxi's socioeconomic development and its cooperation with ASEAN countries. He encouraged ASEAN's academic institutions to serve as bridges, fostering cooperation in think tanks, artificial intelligence, and cultural exchanges, aiming to strengthen the China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

During the seminar, Sun Dawei, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Guangxi Committee, highlighted the region's continuous efforts to strengthen friendly relations with ASEAN countries. He also emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in think tank exchanges, artificial intelligence, and youth initiatives.

Ten representatives from ASEAN countries gave speeches at the seminar, sharing practical experiences in modernizing governance systems while referencing Asian civilizational traditions.
