Guangxi, HK team up to boost AI advantages for ASEAN market

Guangxi and Hong Kong have joined hands to foster new artificial intelligence AI advantages for Guangxi's development in the ASEAN market in 2026.

The cooperation draws on the complementary strengths of both sides, linking Hong Kong's high-end AI talent and research strengths with Guangxi's unique position as a bridge connecting China and ASEAN, opening up new space for AI industry development and cross-regional collaboration.

Guo Yike, Provost of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, highlighted how talent, rather than computing power, is at the core of AI development.

He said that Guangxi boasts prominent advantages in building AI models and expressed strong expectations for Guangxi's AI future, adding that the joint efforts of Guangxi and Hong Kong, together with the linkage of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, will fully unlock Guangxi's potential in the AI sector for the ASEAN market.
