Guangxi is building a stronger, multi-tiered healthcare security network and improving service quality through digital and intelligent technologies, aiming to lay a solid foundation for high-quality healthcare development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30).

Key 2026 initiatives include stabilizing basic medical insurance coverage at over 97 percent and advancing unified regional management of basic medical insurance. The region will optimize medical assistance policies and provide one-stop settlement services that link basic medical insurance with commercial health insurance to reduce residents' financial burden.

Fund security remains a priority. Guangxi is poised to expand smart supervision by utilizing drug traceability codes, the medical insurance imaging cloud, and Diagnosis-Related Groups big data, while adopting a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking. Maternity insurance will be extended to flexible workers, with exploration of "zero out-of-pocket" costs for deliveries under policy coverage.

Digital transformation is a key focus. The region aims to advance AI-powered healthcare services and personal insurance cloud platforms, increase mobile payment options for mutual aid and family accounts, and improve cross-regional direct settlement for medical treatment. By late 2026, over 80 percent of designated medical institutions are expected to offer real-time insurance settlement.

Additionally, Guangxi will use the China-ASEAN regional medical and pharmaceutical trading platform for volume-based procurement to support pharmaceutical innovation, ensuring accessible, high-quality healthcare for all.
