Liuzhou, Guangxi, launched a training program focused on high-speed rail construction and signaling technology on Oct 21.

One hundred and six Vietnamese railway technical experts are participating in a more than two-month practical training course at Liuzhou Railway Vocational Technical College.

Vietnam is progressing with several railway construction and renovation projects, creating an urgent need for experts in construction and signaling. In response, Vietnam Railway University and a Chinese college signed a cooperation agreement this year to develop talents specifically for China-Vietnam railway cooperation.

Wang Hanqiang, Party secretary of Liuzhou Railway Vocational Technical College, stated that the program emphasizes core skills such as high-speed rail communication, signal equipment maintenance, and engineering surveying.

It employs practical teaching techniques to help trainees apply their theoretical knowledge, preparing them for railway electrification projects in northern Vietnam.

Zhang Zhongwang, Rector of Vietnam Railway University, emphasized the necessity of talent reserves for modern and high-speed rail development.

He also expressed hope that Chinese instructors would help Vietnamese trainees master essential knowledge and skills for new railway construction and maintenance.

Qu Chengdie, a trainee representative from Vietnam Railway University, said the opportunity to learn advanced Chinese railway technology is invaluable for both her personal career and Vietnam’s railway development.

The two institutions also reached initial intentions to cooperate, including developing railway job competency standards and promoting the ASEAN railway skill certification system.
