Thai university delegation visits Hechi University for sericulture cooperation

A delegation from Thailand's Mahasarakham University has paid a three-day visit to Hechi University, aiming to strengthen cooperation in sericulture technology and education – marking a key step in advancing China-Thailand academic and industrial exchanges.

Hechi University President Ma Shaojian met with the delegation led by Mahasarakham University President Prayook Srivilai.

Ma outlined the university's accomplishments in discipline development, talent training, and scientific research, emphasizing its progress in establishing sericulture and silk industry research platforms and in transforming research results.

He said that the visit would strengthen mutual understanding and establish a strong basis for cooperation between the two countries in agricultural science, education, and local industry services.

Srivilai expressed gratitude for the warm reception and shared his university's strengths in agricultural science, biotechnology, and humanities.

He said Hechi University's impressive results in sericulture research demonstrate the broad cooperation prospects between the two sides and expressed hope to establish long-term mechanisms for talent exchange, joint training, and collaborative research.

The two sides held in-depth talks on student and faculty exchanges, joint talent cultivation, and the co-founding of an international sericulture research lab.

They initially agreed to launch a "China-Thailand Sericulture Technology Cooperation Center" to develop key technologies like mulberry planting and silkworm disease prevention, and promote the application of research results in enterprises of both countries.

During the visit, the delegation toured Hechi University's Guangxi Modern Sericulture and Silk Industry College and other facilities, and visited local enterprises. Hechi University's Thai language majors provided full translation services, showcasing the university's teaching quality.
