Hechi silk shines in Beijing, eyes 100-billion-yuan cluster

Hechi, hailed as "China's New Silk Capital", has led all prefecture-level cities in China in mulberry field area and silkworm cocoon output for 20 consecutive years, while topping the nation in cocoon silk processing capacity for 15 straight years.

Hechi's silk products recently made a stunning debut in Beijing, drawing widespread attention and highlighting the city's ambition to build a 100-billion-yuan ($13.8 billion) silk industry cluster.

Endowed with favorable natural conditions, Hechi has long nurtured a thriving sericulture industry. Local silk is recognized both domestically and internationally for its fine texture and durability.

The Beijing exhibition served as a key platform for promoting these products, fostering partnerships with businesses and buyers nationwide.

To achieve its 100-billion-yuan goal, Hechi is accelerating the development of a trusted data space for the industry, a China-ASEAN Cocoon and Silk Trading Center, and a China-ASEAN Digital Industry Innovation Center for Sericulture and Silk–driving the transition toward smarter, more efficient, and brand-driven growth. It also plans to expand cultivation, upgrade technologies, and extend the industrial chain.
