Hechi facility agriculture output to reach 14.27b yuan
The total output value of facility agriculture in Hechi is expected to reach 14.27 billion yuan ($1.96 billion) in 2024, Hechi Daily reported on Dec 25.
Leveraging its location, climate, and ecological advantages, the city aims to make modern facility agriculture a new engine for improving agricultural quality and efficiency.
Hechi is accelerating the construction of large-scale vegetable bases for crops such as edible fungi. Currently, the city has established 45 facility vegetable bases covering 8,272 mu (551 hectares) and 35 facility edible fungi bases covering 1,261 mu (84 hectares). The vegetable output is expected to reach 2.34 million metric tons in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 4.2 percent.
By leveraging funds to integrate various resources, the city is also enhancing its fruit industry. The fruit output this year is expected to reach 1.02 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 7 percent.
In addition, Hechi has made efforts to develop other industries including facility livestock, facility sericulture, and modern facility fishery. In 2024, the city is projected to achieve livestock outputs of 2.13 million pigs, an increase of 6.5 percent, 240,000 beef cattle, an increase of 6 percent, 930,000 sheep, an increase of 6 percent, and 34.1 million fowls, an increase of 8 percent.
The city aims to boost its sericulture production to 223,500 tons of silkworm cocoons this year, a year-on-year increase of 9.13 percent. Over the past four years, the city has secured 25.32 million yuan for high-quality fishery development projects.
