Sports industry in Hechi thrives
The city-wide sports event in Hechi has been held eight times since the first one began in August 2001. After the first sports event, Hechi's sports industry entered a period of vigorous development, aligning with the nation's focus on physical fitness and putting the city on the path to becoming a sports powerhouse.
Sports have become a key driver of Hechi's social and economic progress, with remarkable results in both competitive and community sports.
Hechi athletes have also excelled on the international stage. Peng Qiuping from Yizhou district won a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, breaking a world record. In the field of public fitness, Hechi has also made significant progress. By the end of 2023, the city had built 16,494 sports facilities, covering an area of 8.40 million square meters.
Sports in Hechi also serve as a unifying force for the city's diverse ethnic communities. The city has integrated traditional sports into local celebrations, fostering connections among ethnic groups. Hechi's sports tourism industry has also flourished, as the city leverages its ecological and cultural resources to host events like the Bama International Marathon and the Hongshui River Mountain Bike Race.
In this new era, Hechi's sports industry continues to thrive, injecting fresh energy into the city's high-quality development.
