Qingtan village puts work to transform watercourse
In the summer season, the scenic beauty of Qingtan village, Shibie town, Yizhou district, is captivating. The rice waves roll and fish swim in abundance. On the shimmering river waters, villagers can be seen boating or swimming.
The Luoshou River is the village's main watercourse, connecting to the Longjiang River area. Throughout history, the entire village has relied on the Luoshou River for sustenance and labor. Standing on the Yingyue Bridge and gazing into the distance, the river appears crystal clear with lush greenery on both banks, resembling a green emerald belt.
It's hard to imagine that the Luoshou River was for years plagued by silt and accumulated household waste.
In 2018, the village initiated "rainwater and sewage diversion" along both sides of the river and incorporated measures like "clean water sources, fishing prohibition, and building a beautiful countryside" into village regulations and agreements, making "joint sewage treatment" a conscious action among villagers.
The village also designated full-time cleaners to ensure the river is cleaned every other day, enhanced greening along the riverbanks and introduced grass carp, silver carp, and other species to effectively control algae proliferation. Through comprehensive strategies, the Luoshou River has undergone a remarkable transformation, finally experiencing a resurrection.
